Salwah Palace // The Modern Representation

Program // Art Installation

Location // Riyadh (Diriyah) - KSA

Area // 350 m2

Year // 2022

The design intent is to create an abstract and interactive space to represent the majestic and beautiful Salwa Palace.

Embracing the architectural elements, texture, and volumetric arrangements of the palace, the installation expresses the feel and visual abstraction in an interactive way to give the visitors a vibrant experience.

Respecting and representing the history and importance of it, the installation comprises of mirror which showcases the abstract idea of unity with reflections as a symbol of the State and its people being one and the same.

Reflective materials are used in the installation which represents the finesse and delicacy of the elements and yet when assembled together it brings out the robust structure as it submerges in the context around it.

The space planning of the structure is done as a completely inclusive design. Each designed element is different and yet the aspect of modularity can be maintained as individual panels. The structure is designed in a parametric way which gives it future possibilities of creating different iterations with respect to scale and resolution. Application of parametric tools also streamlines the fabrication and assembly process.
