The Bowl is located in the Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmad Cultural Center in the center of Kuwait City. The project is inspired by the coexistence of the natural environment and human intervention. It is a harmonious collision between the artificial and the natural, the hard concrete and the encroaching greenery, the warm wood, and the cold steel.
The space is primarily composed of concrete, except for two 8-meter-high green walls. The organic composition of the walls responds to the cold, structured language of the concrete that creates a beautiful paradox.
The wood installations nestled in between the green walls are inspired by shelf mushrooms that grow on the barks of trees. They are formed by a series of CNC milled wooden panels that are stacked and offset to create an encroaching effect that melds into the surrounding greenery.
